naked
Beth Keeping, Marianne Robinson
Every day I put on my best face
Turn my light on and I try to shine
Climbing ladders to get into first place
Always feels like I’m stuck on the firing line
But you don’t ask for as much as they do
You’re not here for what I can give you
All my layers begin to undo ‘cause you see through
With you I can’t hide what’s inside
And you – you don’t want me to try
When you’re up against the world
You get good at faking
But with you
I’m naked
I’m standing here with all of my baggage
Is it too heavy, too heavy to hold?
But you’re standing there and you help me unpack it
I guess now you’ve seen it all
You don’t ask for as much as they do
You’re not here for what I can give you
All my layers begin to undo ‘cause you see through
With you I can’t hide what’s inside
And you – you don’t want me to try
When you’re up against the world
You get good at faking
But with you
I’m naked
Strip me back strip me back say you want to
Take it off take it all take it with you
All I am all I have I give it to you
With you I can’t hide what’s inside
And I know you
You don’t want me to try
When you’re up against the world
You get good at faking
But with you
I’m naked
